Schechter’s Use of Technology to Enhance Jewish Learning

Technology has transformed education, and at Schechter, we embrace it as a tool to enrich Jewish learning while maintaining the timeless traditions of our heritage.

Technology has transformed education, and at Schechter, we embrace it as a tool to enrich Jewish learning while maintaining the timeless traditions of our heritage. Our goal is not to replace Jewish learning with technology, but to use it thoughtfully to make learning more engaging, accessible, and meaningful.

Interactive Judaic Studies

Students use digital tools to explore Jewish texts, history, and traditions in interactive ways. For example, online platforms allow students to analyze Torah texts side by side with commentaries, while interactive maps bring Jewish history to life. This combination of technology and tradition makes Jewish learning more dynamic and accessible.

Innovation Studio and Makerspace

Our Innovation Studio and Makerspace give students opportunities to connect Jewish values with modern tools. They may design ritual objects on 3D printers, use coding to create educational apps about Jewish holidays, or explore environmental responsibility through STEM projects tied to the principle of bal tashchit (do not waste).

Virtual Connections to Jewish Communities

Technology also allows Schechter students to connect with Jewish communities around the world. Video conferencing and online collaborations enable students to engage in shared projects with peers in Israel and beyond, reinforcing the global nature of the Jewish people.

Balancing Technology with Tradition

At Schechter, technology is used intentionally to enhance—not replace—face-to-face learning, prayer, and celebration. Students learn to balance modern tools with timeless values, preparing them to live Jewish lives in a digital world. Conclusion: By blending tradition with innovation, Schechter uses technology to make Jewish learning more engaging, relevant, and impactful. In doing so, we prepare students to carry their heritage forward with confidence and creativity.
