As a new member of Solomon Schechter Jewish Day School (Tzevet), what excites me most is joining a community that is deeply committed to educating the whole child. I’m drawn to Schechter’s student-centered approach, where academic excellence, social-emotional growth, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and Jewish values are woven together to help every student thrive. What I love most about teaching is seeing the spark of wonder in a student’s eyes and being part of their journey of discovery. I love when students embrace a growth mindset, take risks, and experience those “aha” moments as they learn more about themselves, a new concept, and the world around them. Creating an environment where students feel known, supported, and inspired to grow is what makes teaching so rewarding.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about teaching 1st grade is seeing each student’s progress and growth from the beginning of the year to the end. They discover their independence, grow as readers and math students, and develop their social emotional skills. I love building our classroom family based on relationships, trust, kindness, and empathy. I love the excitement that fills the room when a student reads a word independently for the first time, adds their first tooth sticker to the tooth chart, or gets on top of the monkey bars after trying so many times.
