At Schechter, innovation and creativity are at the heart of our educational philosophy.
We believe that fostering these qualities is essential for personal growth and integral to preparing our students for a rapidly evolving world.
New spaces, new opportunities
Whether it’s in the classroom, our newly-designed and vibrant Art Studio, our cutting-edge Innovation Studio, or the dynamic Makerspace, our students embark on a continuous journey of discovery, invention, and self-expression. State-of-the-art 3D printers, a laser cutter, and a brand new kiln provide countless opportunities for students to unleash their imagination and creativity! These spaces are also fertile ground for building resilience. Here, students learn that setbacks and failures are stepping stones on the path to future success.
The Big Idea is Really Big!
In a one-of-a-kind program, our seventh and eighth graders take the reins of their own learning journey by collaborating with peers, teachers, and consultants to design month-long courses based on their personal interests and passions.
These unique, interdisciplinary, student-centered courses—including The History of Sports, SciFi Entrepreneurship, The Psychology of Art, and Extreme Creatures—provide a platform for our students to explore their curiosities in depth.
The culmination of these courses is equally remarkable. Students showcase their newfound expertise through creative and interactive capstone projects, such as a Shark Tank-inspired competition where budding entrepreneurs pitch their innovative ideas, create a model museum displaying their understanding of historical events, or develop a comprehensive plan for their business ventures.
Through the Big Idea, students do more than absorb knowledge—they are empowered to take ownership of their education. It’s a testament to our commitment to nurturing confident and well-rounded changemakers who are prepared to embrace an ever-changing world.
