FAQ

Flexible Tuition: A Customized Approach

Flexible Tuition is a robust and innovative program that allows families to pay for their child’s education based on their financial ability. More than 75% of our students, from families with a wide range of income, benefit from Flexible Tuition. We consider your family’s full financial picture with the help of an independent third party. Factors include family size, adjusted gross income, existing child care costs, and other family expenses and assets.

Schechter’s comprehensive Flexible Tuition Program is made possible through the generosity of our supporters, with special thanks to the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, The Saffir Family, Crown Family Philanthropies, the David and Etta Jonas Family Foundation, the Bernard Heerey Family Foundation, and The Jordan A. Feldman Scholarship Fund.

TAP into your child’s future

The Tuition Accessibility Partnership (TAP) Fund is an alternative tuition model for families with an annual adjusted gross income (AGI) between $200,000 and $350,000. TAP caps tuition at 12% of a family’s AGI, regardless of the number of children they have enrolled at Sager School.

Learn more by visiting TapFundChicago.org

The TAP Fund is powered by Crown Family Philanthropies, a Chicago-based foundation dedicated to partnering with its communities to effect just and lasting social impact across generations.

Does your family’s AGI fall outside TAP income guidelines?
For families with AGI below $200,000, our existing Flexible Tuition program (described above) utilizes vigorous funding from alternative sources to ensure tuition is customized to your unique circumstances.
For families with AGI above $350,000, Schechter’s AGI Tuition Cap Program caps tuition at 14% of your AGI.
The expansion of the AGI Tuition Cap Program beyond the TAP Fund AGI parameters is made possible by the David and Etta Jonas Family Foundation, whose mission is to support the State of Israel and the Jewish community by investing in educational programs that instill and preserve Jewish history, identity and values.
