Our students participate and lead daily Tefillah and Torah reading with competence and joy. Integrated throughout the curriculum are the highest values of Judaism and American citizenship. Our students live by the ideals of Tikun Olam and Derech Eretz, and are instilled with the love of Torah, God, and Israel. Egalitarian morning services are conducted daily and Torah is read by students on appropriate days. Holidays are studied and celebrated in exciting and innovative ways.
Both standing and mobile technology labs, field trips, authors’ visits, cultural arts events, band, and choir exemplify our commitment to developing well rounded children who can meet the challenges of the 21st century. Holiday celebrations, Shabbat lunches, social action projects, and Jewish milestones encourage our students to become serious Jews and leaders in the Jewish communities of tomorrow.
Our school has a nutritious hot lunch program, a variety of transportation opportunities, and early and after school care options to assist working families.
Field trips and other extra-curricular programs are integral to learning at Schechter. Classrooms and halls are covered with student-created art. Computer labs buzz with conversation and exploration. At Schechter there is truly something for everyone.
Solomon Schechter Day School students enjoy an extraordinary relationship with the students of Keshet, a Jewish day school for children with special needs, that occupies part of the Northbrook building. Keshet students share lunch periods (including a kosher hot lunch program), prayer services, and other school activities with Schechter students throughout the day.
